ECREA’s Communication Law & Policy Section arranges a number of sessions at the biannual European Communication Conference (ECC). And in the years between ECCs, the section organizes its own workshops.

Past CLP Workshops

The 2019 workshop “Communication Rights in the Digital Age” took place in Helsinki in October 2019. It was hosted and organized by the Helsinki Media Policy Research Group (HMRG) at the University of Helsinki.

The 2017 joint workshop of the ECREA “Communication Law and Policy” and “Media Industries and Cultural Production” sections “The Future of Media Content: Interventions and Industries in the Internet Era” took place in Norwich in September 2017. It was hosted and organized by the University of East Anglia’s School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies.

The ECREA-CLP section also co-organized the ECC pre-conference “Imposing Freedoms: The role of copyright, privacy and censorship governance in the re/definition of rights in digital media” in Istanbul in October 2012, together with its ICA and IAMCR sister sections.

The 2012 workshop “Communication and Media Policy in the Era of the Internet and Digitization” took place in Munich in March 2012. It was hosted and organized by the Department of Communication Science and Media Research (IfKW) and supported by the Munich Center on Governance, Communication, Public Policy and Law (MCG).

The 2009 workshop  “New Directions for Communication Policy Research” took place in Zurich in November 2009. The workshop was hosted by the University of Zurich’s Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research (IPMZ) and jointly organized by the two IPMZ divisions “Media & Politics” and “Media Change & Innovation”.
